Independent Rear Suspension with True Track Stabilizer Bar
Roadsmith was the first to offer independent suspension for trike conversions over 10 years ago. The ability of the suspension to react positively to bumps in the road creates a much smoother and safer ride than a solid-axle suspension. The beauty of independent suspension is that when one wheel hits a bump, that wheel quickly moves to absorb the bump, then the stabilizer and shock system returns the suspension to its proper position. The 5/8” diameter anti-sway bar uses torsion effect to keep the trike righted or sitting square to the ground. This is the same technology used in almost every car and truck today. It’s obvious that independent suspension is being adopted by all manufacturers of cars, trucks and ATVs because of its responsive handling and superior ride.                                        Longer Wheelbase
The wheel base of the finished trike is longer than the stock bike. This additional length positions the rear wheels behind the passengers seat area. Rather than sitting right on top of the wheels, where the passenger is more likely to feel the impact of bumps, the passenger is forward of the wheels, making the ride much more smooth and comfortable for the most important rider.                                                                               Premium Disc Brakes
Large disc brakes more than handle the stopping duties of our trikes. Disc brakes have a light weight design, are easier to apply, have more stopping power than drum brakes, and there’s no maintenance or adjustment.                                                                 Trike Engineered Steering Kit
Simply put, a steering kit is like power steering for your trike. It reduces your steering effort by half. On a trike, we are not counter steering, but rather steering. That is the opposite of what the front end was designed to do. With our steering kit we reduce the trail in the front end to give you better leverage to steer your trike. This can really reduce your fatigue level at the end of a long day.

D.F.T. Trike Conversion

The D.F.T. independent suspension system starts with a differential mounted in a two-piece case. The case is 'O' ringed and sealed at the drive axles and mating surfaces. This serves as the adaptation device that maintains the motorcycle's original drive location and provides a mounting for the brake rotor. The drive spool is then mounted in a pair of main castings that are the foundation for mounting and placement to the motorcycle, lower suspension pivot points, upper shock mounts, brake caliper mount, drive spool and inner half shaft bearing bosses.

All steel components, such as the lower arms and drive shafts, are T.I.G. welded and plated inzinc dichromate. The lower arms are fitted with tapered roller bearings at both the main casting and outer carrier pivot points for long life and smooth suspension movement. The half shafts use automotive type universal joints equipped with grease fittings.

The outer wheel carrier employs a sealed, double row ball bearing hub that mounts a 5 bolt x 100mm bolt circle, 16" front wheel drive rim available in numerous styles from many sources. The four shock's coil-over shock system provides tunable stance, balance and vertical position. To complete the system and enhance cornering and steering, a sway bar is provided. It is easily adjusted through a turnbuckle and locknut arrangement, and is mounted with spherical ends enabling a quiet, smooth, positive operation.
